EMPORIA, Kan. - Several Mavericks found their way into the top 10 for the Omaha track & field team at the Emporia State Relays on Saturday.
Stephanie Ahrens leaped 5 feet 8.75 inches (1.75 meters) in the high jump to claim a victory. Her jump leads all of the Summit League for the outdoor season by three inches and is tied for the 10th best in the NCAA West Region.
Lauren Houston won the 800 meter, besting the field with a time of 2:16.54. She ranks fourth in the Summit League.
Anita Jenkins followed in fourth place in 2:21.13 and
Daylee Olson was 15th in 2:28.38.
Anna Edet landed in fourth place in the hammer throw with a mark of 158 feet 7 inches (48.33 meters), just short of a personal best.
Megan Adams finished the event in 13th place with a throw of 139 feet 2 inches (42.43 meters). Maddy Patridge threw 134 feet 3 inches (40.93 meters) and finished 15th.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase,
Annie Catania claimed fifth in a time of 12:04.85.
Alyssa Averhoff was the lone Maverick in the 5,000 meter and represented well, corralling a sixth-place finish in 18:29.45. Also competing in the event was
Sasha Quattlebaum who finished eighth with a best jump of 36 feet 1.5 inches (11.01 meters). Lexi Riley also landed in the top-15 with a mark of 34 feet 8.5 inches (10.58 meters), good for 11th.
Noni Henderson jumped 36 feet 4.75 inches (11.09 meters) in the long jump to finish sixth.
Rosie Gensichen and
Renata Valquier Chavez finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 1,500 meter. Gensichen ran 4:58.24, and Valquier Chavez was clocked at 4:58.27.
Emily Johnson was 11th with a time of 5:02.26, and
Willa Koenig is 15th in 5:04.61.
Adams threw 116 feet 8 inches (35.55 meters) in the discus and finished 15th. She also competed in the javelin and finished 13th with a throw of 117 feet 6 inches (35.82 meters).
The 4x100 meter relay of Quattlebaum,
Scarlett Hill,
Jaycee Schettler, and
Brekk Flax took 11th in a time of 50.57.
Alexis Allgood finished 15th in the 400 meter, crossing the line in 1:01.52.
Omaha has a two-week break again before traveling to Des Moines, Iowa for the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14.
