HAMPTON, Va. – The Omaha softball finished 1-1 on the second day of the Blue-White Classic on Saturday at the Lady Pirate Softball Field. With the split, the Mavericks are now 12-13 on the season.
In Saturday's opener, Albany scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Omaha, 4-2.
Kelly Pattison finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In game two, Omaha never trailed and went on to top La Salle, 5-1.
Sydney Hampton pitched a complete game to earn her eighth win of the season.
Albany 4, Omaha 2
Omaha got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning.
Jessica Nelson hit a one-out triple to center and scored on
Kelly Pattison's RBI single to put the Mavericks in front 1-0.
Omaha added a run in the top of the third.
Aubrey Hacke walked to start the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Pattison doubled down the left field line to bring home Hack and put UNO ahead 2-0.
Meanwhile, Hacke held the Great Danes without a hit through the first four innings. Albany finally got to Omaha's starter in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out single.
Albany tied things up in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back home runs. The Great Danes went ahead 4-3 later in the inning with another home run.
Omaha put a runner on base in the top of the seventh, but a double play ended the threat.
Pattison went 2-for-3 for the Mavericks with a pair of RBI. Nelson went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.
The win went to Albany starter Maranda Jimenez (4-2), who threw a complete game and held Omaha to two runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Hacke started and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with a strikeout. UNO reliever

Omaha 5, La Salle 1
The Mavericks opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the third inning. Omaha loaded the bases with one out with a walk and two singles. The first run of the game scored when a pitch hit
Savannah Fisher. UNO made it 2-0 when
Jessica Nelson scored on Emily Dargy's sacrifice fly.
La Salle cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the frame on a pair of doubles.
Omaha put two runners on base with two out in the top of the fourth. Nelson hit an RBI single to right to make it 3-1. The Mavericks tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth. Pattison walked to lead off the inning and scored on Fisher's RBI double. Pinch runner Haley Bartz moved to third on a passed ball and came in to score on
Emily Klosterman's sacrifice bunt.
Nelson's 3-for-4 effort with an RBI and a run scored led Omaha in game two.
Savannah Fisher finished 1-for-2 with two RBI. Dargy and Klosterman each had RBI for the Mavericks.
Sydney Hampton (8-5) pitched a complete game for the Mavericks, giving up one run on seven hits. She also had five strikeouts.
