Romero Leads Omaha Past South Dakota

OMAHA, Neb. – Emily Romero scored her third goal of the season to send the Omaha women's soccer team past South Dakota, 1-0, on Sunday evening at Caniglia Field.

With the win, the Mavericks improved to 5-9-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Summit League play, while the Coyotes are now 7-6-2 (2-3).

Romero's game-winner came in the 64th minute as Taylor Gelling sent a ball into the penalty area that Bailey Cascio knocked back to Romero near the penalty spot.  Romero placed a left-footed shot into the lower right corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Following the match, Omaha honored its 2018 senior class of Romero, Erinoelle Clifton, Susie Dineen, Marin Dregelid and Cydney Skinner.

•    Omaha outshot South Dakota 14-10 and held a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.
•    The Mavericks also led in corner kicks, 6-1.
•    Romero scored her third goal of the season to tie for the team lead.
