OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball team improved to a perfect 5-0 at home Tuesday night, defeating Doane 100-60 at Baxter Arena.
 
Leaders for Omaha
Freshman Matt Pile led six scorers in double figures with his first career double-double, finishing with career highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-11 shooting with a block and a steal.
 
Senior Daniel Norl followed with 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal, while junior Zach Jackson had 16 points, six boards and a steal. Senior Renard Suggs chipped in another 13 points, and freshman Ayo Akinwole was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field en route to career highs of 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore JT Gibson rounded it out with 11 points alongside six assists.
 
Leaders for Doane
Doane's Trace Tupper scored a team-leading 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Landon Zarybnicky and Nick Howard added another nine points apiece.
 
Team Stats
Omaha shot .597 (40-of-67) to Doane's .348 (23-of-66) and finished at .476 (10-of-21) from 3-point range. The Mavericks outrebounded the Tigers 47-26 and outscored them 50-18 in the paint.
 
Inside the First Half
Omaha shot .595 (22-of-37) in the first half, and Norl (14), Jackson (10) and Pile (10) all reached double figures, with Pile adding seven rebounds for an efficient 10 minutes on the floor. The freshman had six points as part of a 16-0 Maverick run that made it 30-11 midway through the half. By the break, the advantage stood at 58-23, marking the most points Omaha has scored in a half this season.
 
Inside the Second Half
The Mavericks upped their shooting to .600 (18-of-30) in the second stanza. They took their largest lead of the night on a Daniel Meyer free throw with 3:53 remaining to lead 96-50, then reached the 100-point plateau on an Alex Allbery jumper with 17 seconds left to play.
 
Omaha is now 5-12 (0-1 Summit League) on the season, while Doane, for whom tonight's game counts as an exhibition, remains 8-9 (3-4 GPAC).
 
Noting Tonight's Game
-Tonight marked Omaha's first time reaching the century mark this season. The Mavericks are now 21-3 all-time when scoring 100 points or more in the Derrin Hansen era.
-The last time Omaha had six scorers in double figures was Feb. 25, 2017 vs. North Dakota State.
-Omaha has now shot .500 or better in eight games this season.
