Box Score 2 OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball team capped a packed weekend at the Omaha Classic Saturday at Baxter Arena, falling 3-1 to Drake (20-25, 31-29, 16-25, 18-25) and 3-0 to UMKC (16-25, 15-25, 18-25). The Mavericks are now 2-6 (0-0 Summit League) on the season.
MATCH 1 -- DRAKE 3, OMAHA 1UNO began the day with a mid-afternoon match against Drake, falling 3-1. Senior outside hitter
Elise Brown notched a career-high 14 kills to lead her squad and added two blocks and three digs, while sophomore outside hitter
Kayla Torson was close behind with 13 kills and 20 digs for her team-best third double-double of the season.
Junior middle blocker
Amanda Conlin had a standout effort with career highs of 11 kills and nine blocks and hit at a .550 clip for the afternoon. Freshman setter
Hannah Angeli, making the first start of her young career, added a double-double on a season highs of 34 assists and 21 digs with four kills, three aces and two blocks.

Ashley Smith also chipped in 20 digs, and freshman defensive specialist
Olivia Spanton had another 11.
As a team, Omaha achieved its best blocking effort of the year with 13.0 blocks to Drake's 10.0.
DU was led by double-doubles from Grace Schofield (16 kills/16 digs), Chandelle Davidson (17 assists/11 digs) and Kyla Inderski (14 kills/16 digs).
MATCH 2 - - UMKC 3, OMAHA 0In the tournament's final match, UMKC took a 3-0 decision over Omaha. The Mavericks were led by 12 kills from Torson, who also added six digs. Junior setter
Sydney O'Shaughnessy nabbed her second double-double of the season with 25 assists and 10 digs, and Smith led the defensive effort with a team-high 13 digs.
The 'Roos looked to Alicia Harrington offensively, as she finished with a team-leading 11 kills, while Kaylyn Brandt had a match-high 35 assists. UMKC hit .353 for the night and outblocked the Mavericks 5-1.
At the conclusion of the tournament, junior outside hitter
Mackenzie Horkey was named to the Omaha Classic All-Tournament Team.
Omaha returns to action next weekend at the UMKC Kangaroo Klassic, Sept. 9-10, in Kansas City, Mo. The Mavericks face Bradley at 10 a.m. and Northern Iowa at 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by Cornell at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Links to live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
