Omaha Drops Summit League Opener to NDSU

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team opened Summit League play with a 2-0 loss to North Dakota State on Thursday at Caniglia Field.  The Mavericks are 2-8-2 overall and 0-1 in league play while the Bison improve to 6-5 on the year and 1-0 in the conference.

North Dakota State netted the game-winner in the 72nd minute, Haley Shelton tipped a shot by Amy Yang off the crossbar, but Holly Enderle was able to collect the rebound and put it past Shelton for the score.  Mariah Haberle added an insurance goal less than three minutes later.

NDSU outshot UNO 15-11 overall and 6-2 in shots on goal.  Lydia Holtmann and Emily Romero each had a shot on goal.  Shelton made four saves for Omaha.

The Mavericks return to action next weekend with a pair of Summit League matches.  Omaha hosts Oral Roberts on Friday, Oct. 7 and Fort Wayne on Sunday, Oct. 9.
