A tight first set saw nine ties and three lead changes between Omaha and Denver. The Pioneers got through a 9-9 tie and worked to a 17-12 lead before the Mavericks called for a timeout. Down 20-17, Omaha strung together a short 3-0 run with a kill by senior
Elise Brown, a DU setting error and an Angeli ace, which knotted it at 20-20. From there, the score stalled four times up to 25-25, but UNO pulled through with back-to-back kills from Torson and Brown to put it away at 27-25.
Denver then rebounded in the second set, hitting .419 as a team. The Pioneers never trailed and claimed the game 25-14 to even the match at 1-1.
DU's momentum continued in game three, as it built a 5-0 lead to start. Denver again led the entire set en route to a 25-20 win, taking the match lead, 2-1.
Principato was the Pioneers' primary target in the fourth set, totaling 10 kills. Omaha, however, did not go down without a fight, as the game included 17 ties and seven lead changes. Down 17-15, the Mavericks came out of a break and pulled to an 18-18 tie with a kill by freshman

Following a timeout, the Pioneers evened it again at 24-all with a Nola Basey kill and a Maverick attack error. UNO then elected to take a timeout, after which Angeli immediately pounded a kill to make it 25-24 and force another timeout, this time by DU. A Maverick service error pushed it to another tie at 25-25, but Denver capitalized thereafter with a Cassie Baird kill and a UNO attack error that ended the set at 27-25 and the match at 3-1.
