Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball team played tough in its home debut Thursday night, falling 3-0 (16-25, 23-25, 24-26) in front of a crowd of 1,510 fans at Baxter Arena. The Mavericks are now 0-4 (0-0 Summit League), while the Cyclones improve to 2-1 (0-0 Big 12).

Mackenzie Horkey matched her career high with a match-best 18 kills on .385 hitting and added a match-high nine digs.

Sydney O'Shaughnessy put up a match-leading 34 assists and added seven digs, two kills and a block. Junior middle blocker
Amanda Conlin led the way at the net, totaling three blocks along with five kills and three digs.
Redshirt freshman rightside hitter
Meagen Roth also made her career debut, posting eight kills for the night.
As a team, Omaha hit a season-high .272 to Iowa State's .295. The two squads finished with 4.0 blocks apiece, while the Cyclones held the edge in digs, 49-42.
ISU was led by 11 kills from Genesis Miranda and 10 more from Anna Kiel. Monique Harris had a team-high 21 assists, and Suzanne Horner added another 20 with eight digs.
Omaha and Iowa State opened the match by exchanging the first eight points to reach a 4-4 deadlock. The Mavericks then used a 4-1 run to go up 8-5, fueled by kills from Horkey and freshman middle blocker
Ellie Brown. ISU grabbed the next five points, thanks to multiple service aces by Alexis Conaway, to regain the lead at 10-8. From there, the Cyclones took control of the set with a 12-6 run, helped by three kills from Ciara Capezio and two more from Samara West, to make it 22-14. ISU closed the set with two kills from Miranda and a set-clinching block from West to win 25-16.
Similar to the opening set, Omaha and Iowa State exchanged the first eight points before ISU created a 3-0 run to go ahead 7-4. UNO then exploded for 13 of the next 19 points with the help of three kills from Horkey and two from Conlin -- who added a solo block as well -- to take its largest lead of the set at 17-13. The Cyclones, however, seized the following four points to knot the game at 17-all. Six consecutive back-and-forth rallies knotted the game at 18, 19, 20, and 21, 22, and 23, contributing to the set's 10 total tied scores. Iowa State then rallied for the final two points of the set on a kill by Kiel and an Omaha attack error to take game two 25-23 and the match lead 2-0 heading into the intermission.
The Mavericks came out of the locker room with fire in the third set, taking five of the first eight points from a pair of Horkey kills. ISU claimed its first lead at 6-5, following a 3-0 run charged by a block and a kill from Miranda. UNO then battled to tie the match at 8-8. Back-to-back service aces from the Cyclones made it 10-8 ISU before Omaha came back with two points of its own to make it 10-10.
A 7-4 ISU run gave the Cyclones a 17-14 advantage, followed by a 5-3 Maverick run that brought Omaha within one at 20-19. ISU won the next two rallies to make it 22-19, but UNO came storming back and built another run of 4-0, spurred by consecutive kills by Roth to take a 23-22 edge. The Cyclones, however, closed out the match with a late 4-1 spurt, securing the game at 26-24 and the match at 3-0.
