In the first set, the Mavericks held a 7.0-2.0 advantage on the block. Trailing 11-10, three Torson kills and two Torson/Taylor stops spurred a 6-0 UNO run that made it 16-11 and was part of a closing 15-6 spurt that secured a 25-17 Omaha win.

In the third game, Torson registered seven kills to lead the Mavericks' offensive charge. Locked at 14-14, an O'Shaughnessy/Conlin block started a 5-0 run that gave Omaha a 19-14 advantage and prompted an MSU timeout. The Racers inched back within two at 23-21 before the Mavericks called for a timeout of their own. Out of the break, a Torson kill brought it to set point, but Murray State used a Scottie Ingram kill and a Maverick attack error to cut it to 24-23. Omaha, however, sealed it on the next play with a Torson kill for a 25-23 win and a 2-1 match lead.
The Racers then took the fourth set, 25-17, and put the match in a 2-2 deadlock to send it to a fifth set.
The deciding game included six ties up to 14-14. Omaha battled through with a kill by Brown, then capped it with an Angeli/Conlin block to give the Mavericks the set at 16-14 and the match at 3-2.
