Box Score 2 GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The Omaha volleyball team closed its first weekend of play Saturday at the UND Classic, falling 3-0 (19-25, 11-25, 18-25) to UC Davis and 3-1 to Ole Miss (19-25, 25-22, 14-25, 15-25) at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Mavericks are now 0-3 on the season.
MATCH 1 -- UC DAVIS 3, OMAHA 0In the morning match, senior outside hitter
Elise Brown paced the Mavericks with a career-high six kills alongside two digs and a block. Sophomore outside hitter
Kayla Torson chipped in five more kills with 10 digs and a block, and junior setter
Sydney O'Shaughnessy narrowly missed a double-double with 20 assists and nine digs.

Amanda Conlin added another five kills with three digs, two aces and a block, and freshman middle blocker
Ellie Brown had three kills with a team-leading two blocks. Junior outside hitter
Mackenzie Horkey put up a team-best 16 digs for the match as well.
The Aggies were led by 12 kills from Kendall Walbrecht and a double-double on 14 assists and 14 digs from Sophia Mar.
MATCH 2 -- OLE MISS 3, OMAHA 1Torson shined for Omaha in the afternoon match, totaling career bests of 14 kills and 14 digs for her first career double-double while also adding a block. O'Shaughnessy posted a season-high 30 assists, eight digs, four kills and a block for the day, while Horkey chipped in seven kills, 12 digs and two stops.
Ellie Brown led the Mavericks at the net again with three blocks, and Conlin contributed two more alongside a career-best eight kills. Freshman
Ashley Smith also had a season highs of 21 digs with seven assists.
The Rebels got a double-double from Kate Gibson's 12 kills and 13 digs, while Aubrey Edie had 39 assists and nine digs, and Kathryn Cather added 12 more kills.
At the conclusion of the tournament, O'Shaughnessy was one of nine players named to the all-tournament team.
Omaha returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 1, making their home debut vs. Iowa State. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start at Baxter Arena, and links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
