OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team opened up the conference portion of its season Saturday afternoon at HPER Pool, topping South Dakota State, 168-132.
Four Omaha swimmers combined to win nine of the ten events in the dual. The Mavericks also celebrated Senior Day, honoring Breanna Brown, Jamie Dhabalt, Sydney Dhabalt, Hayley Duncan, Emily Kennedy, Meredith Rick, Mackenzie Ritter and Morgan Stepp.
Stepp led Omaha, as she swam to three individual victories in the 200 fly, 200 back and 400 IM. In the 200 fly, the Parker, Colo., native registered a season-best time of 2:06.64. Stepp also put up a season-best time of 2:09.54 in the 200 back and finished with a time of 4:33.29 the 400 IM.
Sophomore Kylie Vermeire recorded a season-best time in her victory in the 1000 free (10:45.81) and topped the field in the 500 free at 5:12.61.
Junior Olivia McLain swam to multiple victories on the afternoon as well. She was victorious in the 100 free, securing a season-best time of 53.47, then added another season-low time in the 100 fly (57.35).
Freshman Andrea Brosnahan continued her impressive inaugural campaign, dominating both the 3-meter and 1 meter dives. Brosnahan diced the competition, putting together season-best performances in the 3-meter (264.25) and the 1-meter (263.75).
Omaha returns to action on Dec. 1 for the first day of the Mutual of Omaha Invite. The event runs Dec. 1-3 at HPER Pool.
