Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball team came up short Saturday night against IUPUI, falling 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 22-25) at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks are now 4-16 (1-5 Summit League) on the season, while the Jaguars improve to 7-14 (3-3).
Freshman
Chloe Dousette paced Omaha with 10 kills on a season-best .304 attack percentage, marking her third double-figure kill performance of the season. Sophomore
Kayla Torson added another nine kills with six digs, and freshman
Ellie Brown followed up with seven kills of her own.
Junior
Sydney O'Shaughnessy finished with 32 assists for the night in addition to eight digs. Freshmen
Ashley Smith and
Hannah Angeli both had double-figure defensive efforts, totaling 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
IUPUI was led by 15 kills from Kori Waelbroeck, who hit .500, and another 13 from Gabby Fisher. Haley Hoffman, Alexis Mapes and Logan Walling each had three blocks for the Jaguars, who held a 7.0-2.0 advantage at the net.
A tight first frame saw Omaha and IUPUI register 15 ties and six lead changes. Torson paced the Mavericks with six kills in the set, while Waelbroeck scored on seven kills for the Jaguars. Tied 13-13, UNO and IUPUI traded points to a 22-22 lock, capped with a Torson kill. Torson then hammered another to put the Mavericks ahead by one, but IUPUI closed the set on a 3-0 run with an Elizabeth Scott kill, a Maverick attack error and a Mapes/Walling block for a 25-23 decision.
In game two, the Jaguars held a 5.0-0.0 blocking edge. Down 19-16 late in the set, Omaha called for a timeout and came out firing for a 5-0 run with a combined three kills by Brown and Dousette, an IUPUI attack error and an Angeli ace that made it 21-19. The Jaguars managed to tie the set at 22-22 thanks to a Fisher kill, and a Waelbroeck/Hoffman block followed to put IUPUI in the lead again. Following an Omaha timeout, IUPUI finished it off with a Maverick attack error and another Waelbroeck/Hoffman stop, securing the set at 25-22 for a 2-0 match lead.
Game three saw Omaha work past a mid-set 11-11 tie, with an Angeli kill, an ace from freshman

Nicki Carson putting the Mavericks up by three and forcing an IUPUI timeout. Omaha then widened the gap to 16-13, spurred by back-to-back Carson kills. The Jaguars, however, fought back with a 5-1 run helped by four kills between Walling and Scott to take an 18-17 edge. The score then stalled twice more, with the last tie coming at 21-21 after an Angeli kill and an IUPUI attack error. IUPUI put together a final 4-1 spurt to seize the set 25-22 and the match at 3-0.
