OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's soccer team shutout the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, 2-0, on Friday evening at Caniglia Field.

With the win, the Mavericks improve to 3-8-2 (1-1 Summit League) overall, while the Golden Eagles fall to 5-8-1 (0-2 Summit League) on the season.

Emily Romero scored the opening goal for Omaha in the 17th minute.  Romero controlled a pass from Emily Michaels and angled her shot past the ORU goalkeeper to put Omaha up, 1-0.  It was Romero's first goal of the season and Michaels' first assist.

Ten minutes later, Natalie Johnson knocked in a shot from 20 yards out after the ball was misplayed by the Golden Eagle goalkeeper, building the Maverick advantage to 2-0.

Oral Roberts attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, but goalkeeper Haley Shelton and the UNO defense kept the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard the final 45 minutes, securing the win.

Shelton earned the win in goal for the Mavericks going the full 90 minutes and making a match-high eight saves to improve to 2-5-2 on the season.

Omaha wraps up a three-match homestand on Sunday, Oct. 9, welcoming Fort Wayne to Caniglia Field at Noon.  Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
