INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lydia Holtmann scored her fourth goal of the year to help the Omaha women's soccer team to a 1-1 double overtime draw at IUPUI on Friday night at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
The Mavericks are now 4-8-3 on the season (2-1-1 Summit League) while the Jaguars are now 7-5-3 overall (1-1-2 Summit League).
Holtmann's game-tying goal came in the 59th minute. She knocked home the equalizer on a perfect cross from Carlie Cook.
IUPUI struck just five minutes into the second half when Sarah Jacobs scored on a penalty kick after an Omaha handball in the 18-yard box.
In the first overtime period, Haley Shelton came up with a highlight-reel save to keep the game even. Catherine Raster looped a shot over Shelton's head, but the Omaha keeper retreated and punched the ball off the left post.
For the game, IUPUI had a 22-17 edge in shots and finished with a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal. Holtmann had a team-high five shots with four on goal. Cook had four shots while Jessica Bollinger and Emily Romero each had three. Shelton made eight saves in the draw.
The Mavericks return to action on Sunday, Oct. 16, traveling to Western Illinois. The match is set for 2:30 p.m. in Macomb, Ill., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
