OMAHA, Neb. – The Summit League has announced that Omaha women's basketball player Mikaela Shaw has been selected to the All-Summit League Second Team. It is the second time Shaw has earned Summit League honors after being named to the All-Newcomer Team a season ago.
Shaw finished fifth in the Summit League scoring race with 282 points in 15 games and third in rebounds per game at 7.8. The Deweese, Neb. native averaged a team-leading 15.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, Shaw shot 46.7 percent from the field and 74.4 percent from the free throw line.
The sophomore guard earned her first career Summit League Player of the Week honor on Feb. 16. Shaw finished the year with 18 double-digit scoring games, including a career high 38 points against North Dakota State, and eight double-digit rebounding games.
“Mikaela exemplifies all that we value and strive for as Omaha basketball players,” commented head coach Brittany Lange. “I'm so happy for her hard work and dedication to be rewarded.”
In their final year of Division I reclassification, the Mavericks finished the season winning four of their final six games to close the year 10-18 overall and 5-11 in Summit League action.
