Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's basketball team put together a balanced team performance on Saturday afternoon, snapping a five-game losing streak with a commanding 77-58 win over Western Illinois at Ralston Arena. With the victory, the Mavericks improve to 9-16 (3-10 Summit League), while the Leathernecks drop to 8-15 (3-9 Summit League).
Three Mavericks scored in double figures, led by 20 points from senior guard
CJ Carter. He finished a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line and added four rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot. Senior forward
Mike Rostampour tallied 12 points with eight rebounds, a steal and a block, and junior guard
Devin Patterson totaled 13 points, four boards, three assists and a steal.

Jake White also matched Rostampour on the glass, pulling down eight rebounds with seven points and an assist.
Omaha shot 28-of-66 (.424) as a team, improving from 10-of-33 (.303) in the first half to 18-of-33 (.545) in the final 20 minutes, while Western Illinois came in at a 21-of-60 (.350) clip from the floor. The Mavericks committed just nine turnovers for the game while forcing 16 Leatherneck miscues.
WIU was led by 19 points from J.C. Fuller and 11 boards from Mohamed Conde. Garret Covington (15) and Dalan Ancrum (12) also finished with double-figure scoring performances.
Omaha led for much of the first half, taking a 29-25 advantage by halftime. The Mavericks then turned their attention inside in the second half, as UNO outscored Western 30-10 in the paint and shot 18-of-33 as a team. Carter led the way with 17 second-half points, 13 of which helped propel UNO in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza.
In a span from 11:38 to 10:07, the Mavericks rattled off 10 unanswered points with a White 3-pointer, a layup from
Randy Reed II, a three-point play by
Kyler Erickson and a Carter layup – which pushed the score to 56-50. Omaha took its largest lead of the game on a two-handed jam from Rostampour with 2:01 to go, going up 75-55. Two Reed free throws finished it off for UNO, which earned the 77-58 win and improved to 7-5 at home this season.
Omaha returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 19, hosting Oral Roberts. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Ralston Arena, and UNO will honor its two seniors, Carter and Rostampour, with pregame Senior Night festivities.
