CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Omaha swimming & diving team returned to the pool Saturday following a two-week break, falling to Northern Iowa 173-127 at Glen F. Henry Pool.
The Mavericks were led by junior
Morgan Stepp, who won three events on the evening – the 200 fly, 100 fly, and 400 IM. Stepp notched season-low times in the 200 fly (2:07.24) and the 400 IM (4:32.94). She also triumphed in the 100 fly, finishing at 58.92.
Freshman
Kylie Vermeire, from Marshall, Minn., had her best night as Maverick so far, grabbing victories in the 1,000 free (10:48.80) and the 500 free (5:11.61).
Senior
Natalie Renshaw was also victorious, as the Millard North product took first in the 100 back (58.51) and second in the 50 free (24.23).
Senior Miranda Knipfer added a strong performance on the diving end for the Mavericks, recording a season-high score of 259.20 to win the 3-meter event. The Millard South alum also finished second in the 1-meter dive, etching a score of 247.57.
Omaha returns to action on Friday, Nov. 20, traveling to the Kansas Classic. The three-day event will run Nov. 20-22 at Robinson Natatorium in Topeka, Kan.
