OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha swimming & diving team picked up its second win of the season in a conference dual with South Dakota Saturday afternoon, defeating the Coyotes 179-121 at HPER Pool. A dominant effort saw the Mavericks win 11 of 16 events for the day.
Senior
Natalie Renshaw and junior
Morgan Stepp led UNO, claiming three event wins apiece. Renshaw triumphed in the 50 free (23.80), 100 free (52.04) and 100 back (58.19), while Stepp won the 100 IM (1:00.87), 200 fly (2:08.00) and 500 free (5:09.36).
Junior
Tiril Jensen also tallied wins in multiple events, sweeping the both breaststroke races with times of 1:06.99 in the 100 breast and 2:28.33 in the 200 breast.
Renshaw, Stepp and Jensen also teamed up with sophomore
Olivia McLain in the 400 medley relay, posting a winning time of 3:57.52. McLain rounded out the Mavericks' win in the swimming events, capturing first in the 100 fly (58.72).
On the diving side, senior Miranda Knipfer took first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 242.17 dive.
“We won today because of some really strong swims and solid dive performances,” head coach
Todd Samland said, “Our top swimmers led the way, but our depth was the key to the win. It was an amazing effort and a true team win.”
Omaha returns to action on Friday, Oct. 30, traveling to Iowa State. The meet is slated for a 6 p.m. start in Ames, Iowa.
