Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball team powered past North Dakota State Friday night, defeating the Bison 3-1 (20-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12) at Sapp Fieldhouse. With the win, UNO improves to 11-11 (6-3 Summit League), while NDSU drops to 14-10 (5-5 Summit League).

Michaela Schimmer paced the Mavericks with a season-best 17 kills and five blocks, both match highs. Sophomore setter
Sydney O'Shaughnessy tallied her team-best 15th double-double of the season, finishing with 45 assists and 21 blocks, as well as a career-high five service aces, three kills and a block. O'Shaughnessy also moved into the top 10 in school history for career blocks, having now amassed 1,780 in under two seasons.

Mackenzie Horkey added 13 kills with 15 digs for her eighth double-double of the year, as well as two aces and a block. Senior middle blocker

Gessica Gdowski each recorded nine kills for the night. Gdowski's kill total matched her season best, while her 11 digs also tied her season high for the third time this season. Senior libero
Kimberly Bailey had a double-figure dig night of her own, coming up with a match-high 23 digs alongside six assists.
North Dakota State was led by double-doubles by Jenni Fassbender (11 kills/13 digs) and Brianna Rasmusson (21 assists/14 digs).
As a team, Omaha hit .261 to North Dakota State's .146 and outblocked the Bison 7-3.
The Mavericks found themselves in a 1-0 deficit after NDSU took the first set, 25-20. Omaha came back in a big way in set two, however, hitting .438 as a team with eight of its 16 kills courtesy of Schimmer. After tying it at 9-9 on an O'Shaughnessy kill, the Mavs put together a 10-2 run that made it 19-11. Two more Schimmer kills helped it to 21-13, and back-to-back hammers from Horkey and Taylor finished the set at 25-15.
UNO never trailed in the third game, shooting ahead 10-3 to start. The lead stretched to a 10-point margin at 18-8 with a Taylor kill and a Taylor/Schimmer block. Later in the set, a Schimmer kill pushed it to set point at 24-17, but the Bison threatened with a 5-0 run to pull within two. Schmale closed it out though, as her kill sealed the set at 25-22 and put Omaha up 2-1.
As it did in game three, Omaha worked out to an identical 10-3 start in game four. The Mavericks hit .359 in the set while holding NDSU to a .029 effort, eventually surging to a 21-7 advantage with the aid of eight kills in 10 plays. A Gdowski kill then pushed the score to 23-9, and a Schmale kill brought it to match point at 24-10. After two Bison points, Horkey capped the night with one last kill for a 25-12 set win and the 3-1 match victory.
