Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha volleyball team closed its home weekend Saturday evening, falling 3-0 (18-25, 13-25, 20-25) to IUPUI at Sapp Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 9-11 (4-3 Summit League), while the Jaguars improve to 15-7 (6-2 Summit League).
Sophomore setter
Sydney O'Shaughnessy registered her team-leading 13th double-double of the season on a match-high 25 assists and a team-best 12 digs, in addition to three blocks and two kills. Senior middle blocker
Amy Taylor and sophomore outside hitter
Mackenzie Horkey matched each other with a team-high seven kills as well as two blocks apiece.
Senior rightside hitter
Michaela Schimmer added six kills on .385 hitting, and senior libero
Kimberly Bailey chipped in 11 digs for the night.
Senior middle blocker
Megan Schmale had five kills and a match-high five blocks, which brought her to a career total of 400 block assists. Schmale is only the fourth Maverick in school history to total 400 or more career block assists.
IUPUI was led by Kori Waelbroeck's 14 kills on .730 hitting while Kelly Wachtel finished with 11 kills and hit a blistering .733 with no errors. As a team, the Jaguars hit .284 to Omaha's .100, but the two squads tied at the net with seven team blocks each.
Omaha resumes play next Tuesday, Oct. 20, traveling to Western Illinois. The match is set for 6 p.m. in Macomb, Ill., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
