Box Score AMES, Iowa -- The Omaha volleyball team dropped a 3-0 sweep to Northern Illinois on Friday, falling by set scores of 17-25, 18-25, 23-25 on the second day of the Iowa State Challenge at Hilton Coliseum. Omaha is now 1-4 (0-0 Summit League), while the Huskies improve to 3-2 (0-0 MAC).
Despite the loss, UNO outblocked NIU 11.5-4 for the Mavericks' third double-digit team block effort of 2014. Junior middle blocker
Megan Schmale accounted for seven blocks on the night, while junior setter/rightside hitter had five more stops. Junior middle blockers

Amy Taylor each had four blocks as well, with Taylor's total a season high.
Freshman outside hitter
Mackenzie Horkey led the Mavericks with eight kills along with six digs and a block. Schimmer and freshman setter
Sydney O'Shaughnessy divvied up the setting duties, finishing at 12 assists apiece.
Northern Illinois was led by 13 kills from Jenna Radtke, who hit .706 with just one attack error. Alexis Gonzalez had 29 assists for the Huskies, helping the offense to a .220 hitting percentage over Omaha's .071.
Omaha closes out the Iowa State Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 6, facing Tennessee in the tournament finale at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. Live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
