Indianapolis, Ind. – Omaha opened the 2014 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships in fourth place with 60 points.
Wednesday's competition consisted of two relay events.
The 200 medley team of sophomore Natalie Renshaw, senior Madeline Hutt, junior Jenna Foiles, and senior Whitney Korgan clocked 1:44.27 for third place. This was a season-high time for the team, besting their previous time of 1:45.81 at the Mutual of Omaha Invite.
The 800 free team posted a time of 7:43.89. Senior Erin Wright, freshmen Morgan Stepp and MacKenzie Ritter, and junior Lexi Bergeron took fifth place.
After the first day of competition, Denver is in first place with 80 points. IUPUI sits in second with 66 and South Dakota State is in third with 62 points. Omaha is in fourth with Eastern Illinois (56), South Dakota (56), and Western Illinois (24) rounding out the standings.
Competition runs through Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Preliminary competition begins at 10 a.m. and final competition begins at 5 p.m.
