Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as Ralston Arena will offer $1 beers, sodas and hot dogs for the hour before tipoff, 6 to 7 p.m. The first 500 students will also receive free t-shirts courtesy of Drake Williams Steel.
Scouting the South Dakota State JackrabbitsSouth Dakota State enters the week with a record of 14-10 (6-3 Summit League) after an 83-59 win over Fort Wayne on Feb. 8. Jordan Dykstra paced the Jackrabbits with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Brayden Carlson added 14 points. Cody Larson chipped in another 13 points, and Zach Horstman had nine.
Dykstra has led SDSU with 16.7 points per game this season and pulled down 7.5 rebounds per contest. The Jackrabbits are led by head coach Scott Nagy, who holds a record of 355-218 over 19 seasons.
South Dakota State leads the all-time series with Omaha, 27-37, having won three out of four games over the last two seasons. The Mavericks took the last meeting with an 80-71 victory on Jan. 18, and their victory marked the first time in three years that SDSU surrendered a conference loss at home. The Jacks had previously held a 21-game streak since Jan. 29, 2011.

John Karhoff. Both put up 19 points and shot a combined 13-for-29 from the field, accounting for more than half the teams' field goals. Simmons added three assists and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line, while Karhoff finished with eight boards in 33 minutes of action.

Mike Rostampour (10) also finished with double-figure scoring for Omaha. Carter dished out four assists and didn't miss from the foul line, going 6-of-6. Rostampour grabbed seven rebounds to help his cause and shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the field.
#Socks4SlamDunk: Simmons Up for 2014 State Farm Dark Horse DunkerSenior guard 
Justin Simmons is one of 16 candidates for the 2014 “State Farm Dark Horse Dunker” competition, it was announced Monday by Intersport, producers of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.
The State Farm Dark Horse Dunker is a bracket-style elimination competition. Round One voting is open for two weeks and features eight head-to-head matchups, and Simmons will be paired against Deonte Jones of Texas Wesleyan. Winners will be announced Feb. 24 when Round Two opens. Voting for Round Two, the Semi-Finals and the Finals will be open one week each. The champion will be announced March 17 and compete at the 26th annual College Slam Dunk Championship in Dallas on April 3. Fans can view a video of each dunker and cast their vote at Facebook.com/CollegeSlam.
Previous “State Farm Dark Horse Dunker” winners include Corey Law (High Point University) in 2013, James Justice (Martin Methodist College) in 2012. The 2011 winner, Jacob Tucker (Illinois College), went on to win the Slam Dunk Championship.
In support of Simmons as a Dark Horse Dunker candidate, fans can vote daily on the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships Facebook page. When posting on social media, fans are also encouraged to use the hashtag #Socks4SlamDunk, a nod to Simmons' nickname on and off the court, “Socks.” 
Mavericks Making Headway NationallyUNO has made its presence known in the national statistical rankings, as the Mavericks' .769 free throw percentage ranks sixth nationally. Omaha is also 18th in points per game (81.5) and 21th in assists per game (16.0) as a team.
Home Sweet HomeThe 2013-14 season marks UNO's second season playing at Ralston Arena, which serves as the home of Maverick men's basketball, Omaha Lancers hockey and Omaha Beef indoor football. The Mavs will play a full Summit League schedule this year with seven conferencegames, and in total they have 14 games on the slate at Ralston.
The Mavericks are 9-1 at home this year, starting with six straight wins over UMKC (101-71), South Carolina State (91-59), Iowa Wesleyan (86-36), Waldorf College (100-66), CSU Bakersfield (93-88) and Seattle (76-69). UNO was dealt its first loss on Jan. 23 against Denver before wins over South Dakota (77-73), Peru State (86-62) and Western Illinois (71-60). UNO's nine home wins have come at an average margin of 18.3 points, and the Mavs have scored an average of 84.1 points per game on their home court.
