MATCH 2: GRAND CANYON 3, OMAHA 2
The nightcap against Grand Canyon proved to be a close matchup between the Mavericks and the Antelopes. Despite an even battle that brought the match to 2-2, GCU sneaked past UNO in the deciding set to pick up the win in the final contest of the tournament.
An astounding five Mavericks finished with double-figure kills: Wollak (19), Schmale (15), Taylor (13), Schimmer (12) and Horkey (11).
Three players had double-doubles in the match, as Wollak added 24 digs to her 19 kills, and Horkey notched 19 digs in addition to her 11 kills. O'Shaughnessy came through with the third double-double, totaling a career-high 57 assists and 20 digs. O'Shaughnessy's assist total was the most since former Maverick Emily Myers tallied 60 at Missouri Western on Nov. 6, 2009.
Junior libero Kimberly Bailey also had a double-figure dig night, finishing with 21, and freshman defensive specialist Marisa Moseman chipped in 11.
The Mavericks' blocking was solid again, as they outblocked GCU, 13.5 to 10. Schmale tallied a career-best 10 stops over the five sets, the most of any Maverick blocker this season. Schimmer was right behind Schmale with nine blocks of her own.
Omaha also outdug Grand Canyon with a season-high 103 digs to GCU's 94, and the Mavericks outhit the Antelopes, .246 to .171.

“I am so proud of our team's performance this weekend,” head coach Rose Shires said. “The Grand Canyon match in particular was an amazing effort. This tournament was an outstanding experience for our program and a great end to the season.”
After a 3-1 weekend at the GCU Invitational, Omaha closes the year with a record of 14-19 (6-10 Summit League).
