OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha swimming & diving team opened up its home slate against Kansas on Monday night at HPER Pool, falling 99-41 to the Jayhawks. The format of the meet of the meet consisted of only four individual events, two diving events and two relays.
KU won seven out of eight events competed for the night. Omaha's lone event win came in the 3-meter diving category with junior Miranda Knipfer taking the reign (240.89).
Junior Natalie Renshaw, a product of Millard North, finished second in the 200 free (1:55.24). Atkinson, Wis., native Hannah Johnson posted a third-place finish in 50 free (25.48), and sophomore MacKenzie Ritter finished right behind Johnson, clocking in at 25.51.
The Omaha quartet of Renshaw, sophomore Jamie Dhabalt, senior Jenna Foiles and freshman Cassie Jahn posted a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay (4:03.74).
“This weekend and next weekend are set up to challenge us and to learn how to expect energizing performances multiple days in a row,” head man Todd Samland said. “To perform well at conference we need to find a way to have focus and passion for three solid days.”
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Denver at El Pomar Natatorium against DU and Colorado State. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (CT).
