Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Western Illinois on Sunday in the Mavs' season finale at Caniglia Field.
Omaha finished the season 3-11-2 overall and 1-6 in The Summit League. Western Illinois ended the season with an 8-9-2 overall record and 3-4 mark in Summit League play.
The Leathernecks scored on a Sloane Levin penalty kick in the 26th minute to take the lead. In the 53rd minute, Tyra Markey headed home a cross to make it 2-0. Chrissy Campbell capped the scoring in the 63rd minute for WIU.
The Mavericks actually doubled up the Leathernecks in shot attempts, 18-9. UNO trailed 1-0 at halftime despite outshooting WIU 9-3 in the first half.
The Mavs also had a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal for the game. But WIU goalie Laura Atkinson made six saves to preserve the shutout.
Chelsi Rohloff had six shots to pace the Mavericks, two on target. Haley Shelton also had two shots on goal and had three total cracks at goal.
Sunday's match brought to an end the careers of six Maverick seniors: Monica Bosiljevac, Jordyn Braun, Melanie McCormick, Sarah Nordstrom, Kerry Pivovar and Logen Watts.
