Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Omaha men's basketball team swept the season series against South Carolina State on Monday night, defeating the Bulldogs 83-67 at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 4-3 (0-0 Summit League), while SCSU drops to 2-5 (0-0 MEAC).

Omaha was paced by a season-high 19 points from
Mike Rostampour, who shot 7-of-11 from the field with two 3-pointers and a 3-of-3 showing at the line. The West St. Paul, Minn., native just missed a double-double, adding a season-best nine rebounds and two assists. Junior guard
CJ Carter (17 points) and sophomore guard
Devin Patterson (11) also joined him in double figures.
South Carolina State was led by 14 points and six boards from Daryll Palmer, and Devin Joint chipped in 10 points of his own.
As a team, Omaha had its second-highest shooting percentage of the year, coming in at 52 percent (29-of-56) with eight 3-pointers. SCSU, which shot 58 percent in the first half, finished at a 48 percent for the night. UNO won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Bulldogs, 34-27.
The first half proved close from the start, as both teams shot over 50 percent. Omaha took its first lead at 9-8 on a Patterson three, but Palmer knocked one down to put SCSU back on top. Carter's three-point play made it 17-16 UNO, and the Maverick stretched it to 23-19 with consecutive buckets from Phillips and Rostampour. With 7:23 left, the Bulldogs capped an 8-0 run to go up 29-25 lead before Carter poured in a trey to pull UNO back within one. Patterson then hit two free throws to knot the score at 36-36, and the Mavericks went on to take a 43-42 lead by the half.
With the help of a trio of early threes between Rostampour and sophomore
Marcus Tyus, Omaha surged to a 58-49 lead four minutes into the second half. Another Rostampour trey pushed it to 61-50 with 13:17 left, and two baskets from Carter and another by Karhoff capped a 10-0 run and made it 68-50. Carter later hit a 3-pointer, and on his next attempt from beyond the arc, he was fouled by Koran Wright, and went to the line to sink all three shots. A Karhoff layup spotted Omaha a 76-52 advantage – its largest lead of the game -- and the Mavericks finished off the night with a final score of 83-67.
