Omaha, Neb. – Iowa State visited UNO Friday, beating the Mavs 123-63.
The 200-yard medley relay team clocked their second-fastest time this season when they took first place with a time of 1:48.91. The team was made up of sophomore Natalie Renshaw, junior Jenna Foiles, and seniors Madeline Hutt and Whitney Korgan.
Renshaw gave Omaha two more top finishes in the 100-yard back (58.56) and 100-yard free (59.92). Her swim in the 100-back was her second fastest this season, less than a second behind her time of 57.98 against South Dakota State.
Foiles and freshman Morgan Stepp took second (59.51) and third (1:00.18) in the 100-yard fly, respectively.
Hutt took third place in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:07.31.
On the diving side, sophomore Miranda Knipfer scored 250.95 in 3-meter, taking second place. The Omaha, Neb., native grabbed 229.41 points to take third in 1-meter.
“Many of our swimmers showed some good improvements over last year at this time,” said head coach Todd Samland.
“Improvement is what we are looking for at this point in the season.”
He added, “Tonight was the first half of our 'Big 12' weekend.”
The Mavericks will gear up for their second meet of the weekend Saturday in Lawrence, Kan., against Kansas. The meet will take place in the Robinson Natatorium at 1 p.m.
