Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Omaha volleyball team began its first conference road swing of the season on Friday night, falling 3-1 (16-25, 25-19, 9-25, 24-26) to Fort Wayne at Gates Sports Center. The Mavericks are now 5-12 (0-2 Summit League), while the Mastodons improve to 8-10 (1-2 Summit League).
Omaha was led by a double-double from sophomore
Michaela Schimmer, who had 12 assists, 12 digs, eight kills and two blocks. Sophomore
Kelley Wollak finished with a team-leading nine kills, 10 digs and two blocks.

Bailey Baxter came just shy of a double-double with 10 assists and nine digs, and sophomore
Kimberly Bailey added a team-best 13 digs.

Diane Banderas led UNO at the net with six blocks apiece, which tied both players' career bests. Sophomore
Megan Schmale added another four, and as a team, the Mavericks had 10 stops to IPFW's 11.
Fort Wayne, which captured the 2012 Summit League Tournament championship, was led by 23 kills from Emily Spencer, who added 13 digs and four blocks. Jaydn' Pegues had another 14 kills, and setter Madison Spence totaled 46 assists for the night.
IPFW posted a .208 team attack percentage over the four sets. After the Mastodons took game one 25-16, UNO rebounded in the second set with a 25-19 win and a .216 hitting percentage to tie the match at 1-1.
Fort Wayne came back to hit .400 in set three though, winning 25-9. The fourth set proved a nailbiter, with Omaha tying it at 24-24 before the Mastodons took the last two points for a 26-24 set score and the match at 3-1.
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, traveling to defending Summit League regular-season champion IUPUI. The match is set for 4 p.m. (CT) at The Jungle in Indianapolis, Ind., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
