Omaha, Neb. – Maverick swimming and diving hosted Illinois State for their home opener, falling 204-98, Saturday.

Freshman Natalie Renshaw took the Mavs' first top finish in the 100-yard Back (58.51), beating her 59.12 time at Northern Colorado.  Renshaw added another first-place finish in the 50-yard Free (24.19).  The Omaha, Neb., native also placed second in the 100-free, recording a time of 52.32.  She was narrowly out-touched by Illinois State's Marissa Yontz (52.15).

Junior Jenna Foiles took first place in the 200-yard Fly, posting a time of 2:09.94.  Senior Hannah Alexander and freshman Jeni Fendrick finished in fifth (2:17.69) and sixth (2:43.89), respectively.  Foiles also took second-place in the 100-yard Fly (58.47).

Senior Madeline Hutt swam to a first-place finish in the 200-yard Breast (2:20.32), while Alexander finished the same race in third (2:28.64).

UNO's long-distance swimmer, Morgan Stepp, placed second in the 500-yard Free (5:14.40).

In diving, sophomore Miranda Knipfer took second-place in 1-meter with a score of 229.57.  In 3-meter, Knipfer placed second (220.87) and freshman Gabi McNeilly took third (2:15.63).

"This is a very good Iliinois State team – they have quality swimmers and great depths," said head coach Todd Samland.  

"For us this was another hard meet with the amount of training and competing we are in the middle at this point in the season.  With this being our 4th meet in 14 days and a extremely heavy training load on our Fall Training Trip, I was extremely impressed with how well some of our athletes competed."

Omaha will remain at home for their next meet against Iowa State on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
