Box Score VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Omaha volleyball team closed a challenging road weekend on Sunday night, falling 3-0 (19-25, 26-28, 15-25) to Summit League leader South Dakota at the DakotaDome. The Mavericks are now 6-16 (1-6 Summit League), while the Coyotes improve to 16-6 (7-0 Summit League).
Omaha was led by eight kills apiece from freshman
Kristy Wieser and sophomore
Amy Taylor. Sophomore
Bailey Baxter tallied a her seventh double-double of the year with 13 assists and a team-leading 11 digs, and sophomore
Michaela Schimmer added a team-best 18 assists with eight digs and four kills.

Diane Banderas and
Megan Schmale each finished with two blocks.
USD took the win behind Kendall Kritenbrink's double-double on 20 kills and 10 digs on .371 hitting. Tori Kroll had a match-leading 40 assists, and the Coyotes hit .318 as a team to UNO's .155.
South Dakota opened by taking the first game, 25-19. UNO nearly took a win in the second set, battling back from a 19-15 deficit to eventually tie it at 24-24. A kill from Banderas made it 25-25, and another from Schimmer pushed it to 26-26. USD used a Kritenbrink kill and a Maverick error to snag the game, 28-26. The Coyotes went on to win game three, 25-15, and the match by a score of 3-0.
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, traveling to Macomb, Ill., for a rematch with Western Illinois. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
