KEARNEY, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team defeated in-state foe Nebraska-Kearney on the road, 148-106, on Saturday.
The Mavs began competition with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (2:03.05).
Senior
Anna Haxby and freshman
Claire Alexander followed with second- and third-place finishes in the 1,000 free, clocking times of 11:58.48 and 12:00.10, respectively. Alexander added a first-place showing in the 200 back (2:24.51) later in the day.
UNO rallied as freshman
Hannah Johnson grabbed the first top finish of the meet in the 200 free (2:00.70), followed by sophomore
Morgan Cullison in second in the same race (2:05.68).
Freshman
Natalie Renshaw had a strong effort in the 100 back (59.68), finishing in first place. Juniors
Madeline Hutt (1:08.95) and
Whitney Korgan (1:09.28) took second and third. Renshaw later posted 5:26.18 in the 500 free to win the event.
Freshmen
Jordane Linhart and
Lexi Bergeron raced in the 100 breast, finishing first (1:10.59) and second (1:11.91), respectively. Linhart added a second win for the Mavericks in the 200 breast (2:34.52).
Junior
Erin Wright raced to first in the 50 free (25.96), and Johnson followed with another win in the 100 free (55.50).
Omaha will host its last home meet against Northern Colorado on Feb. 2 at HPER Swimming Pool. The meet, which includes Senior Day festivities, is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
