Cedar Falls, Iowa – The Omaha swimming and diving team opened 2013 at Northern Iowa on Friday, taking its first win of the new year, 174-124.
Freshman
Natalie Renshaw clocked less than a minute (59.33) in the 100 back and grabbed first place for UNO. Renshaw added her second first-place finish of the night in the 50 free (24.44). The freshman completed her top finishes in the 200 back, recording a time of 2:09.27.
The 200 medley relay team opened competition for the Mavs.

Anna Haxby placed second, posting a time of 1:52.76.
Mattie Fosbender added a first place finish in the 1650 free (18:22.38). Sophomore
Lexi Bergeron took second (18:37.85).
Bergeron and Fosbender took first and second place in the 500 free, clocking 5:22.76 and 5:24.84, respectively.
Junior
Erin Wright took second place in the 200 freestyle, recording a time of 2:00.17.
Junior
Hannah Alexander followed the first-place finishes for Omaha in the 100 breast. Alexander clocked a time of 1:10.52. She also grabbed a second first-place time in the 200 breast (2:30.22).
Senior
Cami Hansberry landed in first place in the 100 free, posting a time of 54.18. She added another first-place score in the 100 fly (1:00.49).
"This weekend is typically a difficult time for us to compete,” said head coach
Todd Samland, “Coming off an intense training period and the beginning of a new semester. We were a little tired and sore tonight but the attitude and competitiveness of the team was outstanding.”
The Mavs return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Illinois State in Normal, Ill.
