Rebecca Pollock shot a team-leading 78 and sits in a four-way tie for the lead on the first day of action at the IPFW Spring Golf Classic.
The Mavericks are in a tie with Valparaiso for sixth place with a team score of 339. Indianapolis leads the 10-team event with a score of 322. Chicago State is second at 327 and host IPFW is third at 331.
Pollock went out in 38 and closed with a 40, coming just two strokes from equaling her low round for the year. Brooke Thilges carded an 86 on the 6,042-yard layout at the Pine Valley Golf Course to sit second for UNO and in a tie for 28th overall.
Elizabeth Havekost was third for UNO and in a tie for 30th overall, just one stroke behind Thilges.
Melyssa Doerr fired an 88 in round one and is tied for 38th while
Danielle Kuchar is in a tie for 49th after shooting 91.
The final round is Monday.
