CARBONDALE, Ill. - Rebecca Pollock and Elizabeth Havekost each shot rounds of 79 to lead the UNO women's golf team on the first day of action at the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.

The Mavericks are in 11th place with a team score of 328.  Host Southern Illinois leads with a score of 301 over the 6,075-yard layout at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course.  Iowa is in second at 309 and Northern Illinois is third at 317.

Pollock went out in 38 while Havekost closed with a 39 to finish in a tie for first in scoring for the Mavericks and in a tie for 16th in the 96-player field. 

Melyssa Doerr was third for UNO and in a tie for 42nd overall with a score of 82.  Brooke Thilges fired an 88 in round one to finish fourth for UNO and in a tie for 81st overall.  Danielle Kuchar shot 92 but was disqualified for the first round because of a rules violation.

The final round begins with a shotgun start on Monday morning at 9 a.m.
