OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha swimming & diving team defeated South Dakota State 166-122 in a Summit League dual at HPER Swimming Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Natalie Renshaw and sophomore
Jenna Foiles both starred for the Mavericks, each winning three races.
Renshaw's first victory came in the 100 back (59.34). She followed that race, just 10 minutes later, with a win in the 50 free (24.59). Renshaw added her third first-place finish of the night with a time of 53.20 in the 100 free.
Foiles opened her meet with a first-place performance in the 200 fly (2:11.86), then added a second victory in the 100 fly (59.05). Her third top finish came in the 100 fly (2:13.20).
Junior
Madeline Hutt won the 100 breast, clocking a time of 1:06.20, and junior
Erin Wright was victorious in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.69.
"We are very happy to put together such a great team effort for our dual meet with SDSU,” head coach
Todd Samland said. “Coach Erickson has some very strong swimmers that came off a great meet last weekend in Minnesota, so we knew they would come to perform.”
Additionally, the UNO diving corps added to the team's success, with freshman Miranda Knipfer winning the three-meter competition.
“I was also very happy with our diving program making a significant contribution to our team score today.” Samland said. “Both divers are doing an awesome job on progressing forward.”
Omaha returns to action on Jan. 11, facing Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
