OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha volleyball team began its final homestand Thursday night, falling 3-1 by set scores of 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 17-25 to Kansas City at Sapp Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 6-12 (1-14 Summit League) on the year, while UMKC improves to 17-12 (9-7 Summit League).
Senior
Natalie Ebke had an outstanding performance, tallying her team-leading ninth double-double of the season with 19 kills and 20 digs on .325 hitting. Ebke also had a block and two service aces, and she is now just five digs away from moving into UNO's all-time top 10 for career digs.
Redshirt freshman
Valerie Hecht added a career-high 11 kills on .333 hitting, as well as a match-leading three blocks. Freshman
Megan Schmale matched Hecht at the net and chipped in another eight kills on a .412 attacking effort.
Defensively, senior
Amy Roberts totaled 19 digs, and redshirt freshman
Kimberly Bailey added 16 of her own.
Redshirt freshman
Bailey Baxter finished with a double-figure effort with 28 assists and eight digs, while freshman
Michaela Schimmer totaled 17 assists with a pair of blocks and five digs.
Kansas City was led by 17 kills and 13 digs from Emily Lucas, as well as 12 kills and 12 digs from Jessica Hendin. As a team, UMKC hit .183 to UNO's .170 for the night.
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 10, hosting South Dakota at Sapp Fieldhouse at 5 p.m. The match also marks senior day, and the volleyball program will celebrate the careers of seniors
