Mavs Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

NSCAA Team Academic Awards

The Omaha men's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for 2011-12 after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.02.

This year marked the first time the Mavericks were eligible for the award after completing one full academic year as a program. To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

Both the Maverick men's and women's teams received the award, making UNO one of just four Summit League institutions to have both soccer teams recognized.

About the NSCAA
Based in Kansas City, Kan., the NSCAA is the largest soccer coaches' organization in the world. Since its founding in 1941, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America has grown to include more than 30,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year.
