OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha volleyball team opened its weekend slate Friday night, falling 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-17) to IUPUI at Sapp Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Mavericks drop to 6-17 (1-10 Summit League), while the Jaguars improve to 17-9 (10-3 Summit League).
Freshman
Michaela Schimmer led the way with a double-double off 13 assists and a team-leading 15 digs. Fellow freshman
Kelley Wollak topped the squad offensively, totaling eight kills along with three blocks, and sophomore
Jessy Schroedter pitched in another eight kills. Redshirt freshman
Valerie Hecht added seven kills on .333 hitting with two blocks and an ace.
Seniors
Amy Roberts (12) and
Natalie Ebke (11) also had double-figure dig efforts, with Ebke pitching in another five kills. Redshirt freshman
Bailey Baxter contributed a team-leading 17 assists for the night.
UNO's leader at the net was freshman
Megan Schmale, who finished with a team-best four blocks.
IUPUI was paced by Kaitlyn Hickey's double-double on 10 kills and a match-best 18 digs, while Bethany Fogler added 10 kills with .562 hitting and five blocks. Moriah Fair matched Fogler's block total with five stops of her own.
As a team, the Jaguars hit .211 to Omaha's .116.
