KEARNEY, Neb. -- The UNO swimming & diving team swam to a 132-100 win over in-state opponent Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon. In the Mavericks' final regular-season meet of the season, the squad totaled nine event wins in the victory over the Lopers.
The all-freshman 200-yard medley relay team of
Victoria Schab,
Faith Daley,
Fran Finehout-Vigil and
Jenna Foiles took first-place in a time of 1:57.71.
Redshirt freshman
Meredith Colombo took a pair of victories in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.20) and the 100 free (57.46), and Daley contributed another top showing in the 50 free in a time of 26.45. In the 1,000 free, sophomore
Erin Wright clocked a winning mark of 11:34.10, followed by sophomore
Hannah Alexander (11:36.10) and freshman
Ashley Kneifl (11:38.21) in second and third, respectively.
In the 100-yard backstroke, freshman
Christen Young (1:04.26), senior
Ariel Lahowetz (1:06.20) and junior
Chelsea Hartman (1:08.19) to place 1-2-3 in their race. The 200 back was captured by Kneifl with a time of 57.46.
Sophomore
Anna Kohll finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:15.36, and fellow sophomore
Whitney Korgan chipped in a 2:28.02 in the 200-yard butterfly to finish first.
Freshmen
Lexi Bergeron (2:29.64) and
Morgan Cullison (2:31.52) followed behind Korgan for second and third places, respectively.
Nebraska Omaha returns to action next month at the New South Championships, Feb. 22-26, on the Delta State University campus in Cleveland, Miss.
