Doerr Has Career Day; Mavs Finish Sixth

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Melyssa Doerr shot the best round of her collegiate career, and the UNO women's golf team took sixth in the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

One day after carding a 90, Doerr posted a 76 to lead the Mavericks in scoring, the first time she has done so in her career.  She finished in a six-way tie for eighth overall with a total score of 166.

UNO finished with a team total of 679.  Southern Illinois had four of the top six finishers and won the tournament with a score of 632.  Austin Peay and host SIU-Edwardsville tied for second at 663.

Armana Christianson finished second for UNO and in a tie for 18th overall after shooting 82 on Tuesday for a total score of 169.  Brooke Thilges was third for the Mavs with a two-round score of 170.  Elizabeth Havekost was fourth for UNO at 174, and Danielle Kuchar rounded out the scoring at 195.

The Mavericks return home to host the RMAC/Northern Sun Crossover on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 2 and 3 at Tiburon Golf Course.
