OMAHA, Neb. -- The UNO swimming & diving team hosted its annual Red/Black Alumni Meet on Friday for a season preview at HPER Pool on the UNO campus.
Two teams were made up of both alumni and current Maverick swimmers.
The Red team surged to the win with 320 points over the Black squad, which scored 280 points.
Red earned its first win from freshman
Jenna Foiles in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.28. Junior
Mattie Fosbender then clocked a time of 1:05.00 in the 100-yard individual medley for the red team's second win.
The Black team chalked up its first victory from sophomore
Ashley Kneifl in the 50-yard backstroke (32.04). Fellow sophomore
Hannah Alexander also pulled in a win for Black in the 200 IM at 2:25.46.
Sophomores
Christen Young and
Whitney Korgan, both swimming for Black, won their events in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard butterfly with times of 1:03.12 and 29.13, respectively.
Red sophomore
Tiesha Scipio posted a time of 26.22 in the 50-yard freestyle to take the event crowd. Former All-American
Lucy Zamecnik and alumna
Laura Kemp both chipped in event wins in the 100 free (56.38) and the 50-yard breaststroke (33.90), respectively.
Nebraska Omaha opens its regular-season schedule on Oct. 8, hosting Nebraska-Kearney at HPER Pool.
