GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The UNO volleyball team finished its slate of three matches in four days on Friday night, falling 3-1 at North Dakota at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. With the 14-25, 25-19, 7-25, 16-25 loss, the Mavericks drop to 2-13 on the year, while UND improved to 11-3.
Junior outside hitter
Natalie Ebke nabbed her team-leading eighth double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs, while senior setter
Emily Myers also earned her fifth double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs.
Senior libero
Angie Reicks also finished with 11 digs to inch her way closer to UNO's all-time record for career digs, which is now just 67 away.
Junior middle blocker
Chelsea Snyder led Nebraska Omaha at the net with three blocks, while junior
Lizzy Mach had two stops of her own, along with eight kills.
North Dakota was paced by 11 kills and 10 digs from Devin Trefz. Setter Nikki Husfeldt also had a double-double, totaling 36 assists and 10 digs for the night, and Taylor Bohannon led the match with 29 digs.
After the Sioux took the first set at 25-14, UNO came back to hold UND to a .000 team attack percentage. The Mavericks never trailed, keeping North Dakota at bay by at least four points for the majority of the game. Ebke led the way offensively, totaling six kills with no errors, while sophomore outside hitter
Abby Sorensen chipped in another four to help UNO put up 14 kills to UND's seven.
Despite evening the match at 1-1, North Dakota then stormed back in the final two sets, winning 25-7 and 25-16.
UNO returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27, hosting South Dakota at Sapp Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. The match is the Mavs' final home contest of the season, and seniors Reicks, Myers and
Brittany Hanssen will be honored with Senior Night festivities.
