LINCOLN, Neb.-- The UNO swimming & diving team returned to action after a week off, falling 192-100 to Nebraska on Friday night at the Devaney Center Natatorium.
The Mavericks won four events in the dual with the Huskers.
Junior
Cami Hansberry gave the Mavericks their first win in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 24.48. Hansberry also contributed to the second-place finish (1:48.47) of the 200-yard medley relay team, along with senior Collen Klaiber and sophomores
Tiesha Scipio and
Madeline Hutt.
Scipio also posted a time of 53.95 in the 100 free, enough to give her a runner-up showing.
Hutt won the 200-yard breaststroke to give the Mavericks their second win of the day in a time of 2:22.39.
Freshman
Lexi Bergeron captured first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.63, and sophomore
Kylie Rathbone finished second behind Bergeron in a time of 2:14.35.
The Mavericks' 400 free relay team of Scipio, Klaiber and sophomores
Whitney Korgan and
Erin Wright swam to first in a time of 3:43.21.
"I was extremely pleased with the performances of many of our team members today," Head Coach
Todd Samland said. " The past two weeks was a strong push in our training cycle, so our swimmers were a little broken down. But our competitive spirit was strong and viable. It was a good day."
UNO returns to action on the road against Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m.
