KEARNEY, Neb. – The UNO volleyball team took a 3-2 loss at the hands of in-state opponent Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday night, falling 15-25, 21-25, 19-25 at UNK's Health and Sports Center. With the loss, Nebraska Omaha drops to 5-22 on the year, while the Lopers improve to 24-1.

UNK was topped by 13 kills and three blocks from Haley Lake, while three Lopers notched double-figure dig performances: Liz McGowan (21), Shelby Workman (14) and Jenna Rouzee (10). Rouzee tacked on a match-leading 33 assists.
The two teams opened with an early 7-7 tie, but three consecutive errors put UNK out front at 10-7. The Lopers then took a 17-10 advantage. Nebraska Omaha managed five more points off kills by four players and a UNK service error, but it was not enough as Nebraska-Kearney grabbed the 25-15 win on back-to-back kills by Ashley Leitner and Ellie Pesavento.
In set two, the Mavericks kept it close and even led at 20-19. A kill by UNK's April Krolikowski knotted the score at 20-all, and three straight UNO errors put the Lopers ahead at 23-20. Sorensen then stopped the run with a kill, but back-to-back scores by Lake and Katie Sokolowski gave Nebraska-Kearney the 25-21 win.
The Mavericks outhit the Lopers in the final set, .209 to .190. UNK, however, looked to Lake in game three, as she finished with six kills. With the game tied at 19-19, Lake had back-to-back kills that put the Lopers ahead and sparked a final 6-0 run for the 25-19 win and the match sweep.
UNO closes the 2011 season on Saturday, Oct. 29, traveling to North Dakota. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start in Fargo, N.D.
