TOPEKA, Kan. – The UNO volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match at Washburn on Saturday night, falling 25-21, 25-27, 11-25, 17-25 at Lee Arena. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 4-21 on the year, while the Lady Blues, ranked fifth nationally in Division II, improve to 20-1.
Senior setter
Emily Myers finished with 33 set assists and 16 digs for the night, marking her ninth double-double of the season. Myers' assist total moved her up to second all-time in school history for career assists. Myers now has 4,008 over four years as a starter, passing former Maverick Pam Largen, who had 3,984 from 1988 to 1991.

Natalie Ebke also had her team-leading 12th double-double of the year, totaling 18 kills and 11 digs. Senior libero

Amy Roberts (10) also had double-figure dig performances. Sophomore outside hitter
Abby Sorensen chipped in nine kills, while Jansen had eight.

Lizzy Mach put up five blocks apiece, leading UNO to a total of seven team blocks. The performance marked the 14th time this season that the Mavericks have outblocked their opponent.
Washburn was led by three players with double-figure kills – Mollie Lacy (13), Jessica Fey (12) and Hillary Hughes (10). Hughes had a double-double with 19 digs, while setter Abby Wittman grabbed a double-double of her own off 40 assists and 18 digs. As a team, the Lady blues hit .236 to the Mavs' .141.
In the first set, UNO took an early lead, but the Lady Blues went ahead 6-5 on a kill by Kopp. After trading the lead multiple times, the Mavericks regained their final advantage at 16-15 on an Ebke kill. Seven consecutive Mav points stretched the lead to 22-16, and though Washburn cut it to a three-point margin by game point at 24-21, a final kill by
Ali Jansen gave UNO the first win at 25-21.
Washburn rebounded in the second set with five kills from Lacy. UNO never trailed, leading by as much as six at 16-10, but the Lady Blues eventually tied the game at 19-19. The two squads tied five more times, but WU capitalized on an error and had a winning kill by Hughes to take the 27-25 win and knot the match at one game apiece.
The third game saw Washburn go up 6-4 before UNO tied the score at 7-7. The Lady Blues then limited the Mavericks to just four more points, hitting .270 as a team and holding UNO to a -.024 attack percentage. WU finished the game at 25-11 to take a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set.
Washburn put the match away in game four, though the Mavericks tied it at 12-12 midway through. Behind eight more WU kills, including two late scores from Hughes and a final score from Lacy, the Lady Blues took the set at 25-17 and the match by a tally of 3-1.
UNO returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, traveling to UMKC. The match is set for a 6:30 p.m. start in Kansas City, Mo.
