KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tyler Bullock scored 23 points and Jamel LeBranch came off the bench to score a season-high 11 as the Mavericks defeated Emporia State, 91-67 to advance to the MIAA Postseason Tournament championship game.

Third-seeded Nebraska-Omaha (21-8) will play eighth-seeded Washburn Sunday at 4 p.m. for the MIAA title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Bullock shot 6 of 9 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Matt Newman was just 3 of 11 from the field for 14 points but he added 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double. LeBranch went 4 for 4 from the field as he scored in double digits for the first time at UNO.

In a drawn-out game that saw the two teams combine to shoot 74 free throws after 54 fouls were committed, the Mavericks shot 81 percent from the line while ESU shot 68 percent.

Nebraska-Omaha shot 45 percent from the field overall while the Hornets shot 33 percent. Most of the game was played either in the paint or from the free throw line as the two teams combined for just 10 3-pointers.

Lamar Wilburn opened the game with a 3-pointer for the Hornets but Eugene Bain hit a fastbreak layup and Bullock hit a pair of free throws to put the Mavs up. They held the lead for good and pushed it to double digits at the 9:19 mark when Jeff Martin hit a 3-pointer.

UNO was up by as much as 14 in the half but the Hornets closed the period on a 7-2 run to make the score 49-40, UNO at the half.

A 10-0 run near the midway point of the second half put the Mavs up by 19, 70-51. Bullock scored five straight points during the run and Josh Lynch and Aaron Terry contributed the other five points off the bench.

The Mavs pushed the lead to 23 three minutes later and Emporia State never got within 17 after that.

Bain added 10 rebounds for the Mavs, who out-rebounded ESU 49-32.

Martin hit a pair of 3-pointers for UNO and he is now six away from tying the school single-season 3-pointer record.

The Mavericks split with Washburn (16-13) this year with the home team getting double-figure wins each time. The two games were UNO's lowest combined scoring series against an MIAA opponent this year. The Ichabods knocked off top-seeded Central Missouri and fourth-seeded Missouri Western to advance.
