OMAHA, Neb. - A 20-0 run in the second half erased a double-digit lead and led UNO to an 82-78 win over Truman Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 17-6 overall and 10-6 in the MIAA with the win while the Bulldogs fell to 4-20 and 2-15.
After a back-and-forth first half that saw six ties and seven lead changes, the Bulldogs opened the second half on a 14-4 run to take a 14-point lead, 55-41 with 16:14 remaining. UNO cut it to eight and then Tom Norton hit a 3-pointer to put Truman up by 11 again.
That would be the only points the Bulldogs would score for nearly seven minutes. During that stretch, the Mavs scored 20 straight points to go up by nine, 67-58. Truman then ended the drought with a basket at 7:16 and the Bulldogs cut the UNO lead to four a minute later.
They never got within a possession of the Mavs down the stretch.
Tyler Bullock went 9 for 16 from the field for 24 points and
Jeff Martin hit three 3-pointers and had 14 points.
Andrew Bridger had a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.
Dion Curry came off the bench and shot 4 for 5 from the field for 10 points and
Matt Newman led UNO with 11 rebounds while scoring eight points.
The Mavs shot 44 percent as a team and 40 percent from long range. Truman shot 42 percent as a team and 38 percent from 3-point range.
UNO was edged in rebounds, 42-39 by the Bulldogs.
