OMAHA, Neb. – UNO women's basketball coach Patty Patton Shearer announced on Monday the signing of Cathleen Cox to a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Mavericks next season.
Cox, a 5-foot-8 senior guard for Elkhorn High School, averaged 12.9 points per game to go along with 5.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game as a junior 2009-10.
The Elkhorn native earned First-Team All-Area and First-Team All-Conference honors after her junior season, during which she led the Antlers to the state tournament semifinals and a 21-3 record.
An excellent student with a 3.6 grade-point average, Cox plans to major in physical therapy at Nebraska-Omaha.
“We are extremely happy and proud that Cathleen decided to become a Maverick,” Patton Shearer said. “She has a great skill set offensively, which will give her the ability to play a number of positions for us. In addition, her willingness to compete hard and be a great teammate are attributes that set her apart.”
