KEARNEY, Neb. – The UNO swimming team swam past the University of Nebraska at Kearney Lopers, winning 174-90 on Saturday afternoon in the Cushing Pool. The Mavericks placed first in every event they swam in but one.
The Mavs split the weekend after a loss on Friday night to Iowa State, 87-78.
The 200 yard medley relay team “A” continues to dominate the competition with a first place finish. Sophomore #Colleen Klaiber#, junior's #Laura Kemp#, #Cait Hopkins and freshman Cami Hansberry# finished more than three seconds ahead of UNO team “B” with a time of 1:55.45. UNO “B” finished with a time of 1:58.63 followed by UNO “C” with a time of 2:08.57.
The Maverick freshman showed experience by picking up ten top finishes. #Chelsea Hartman# snatched up first place in the 100 yard fly with a time of 1:05.85 and in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:10.43.
Junior #Lucy Zamecnik# swam to the top spot in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 11:01.80. Freshman #Nicole DeBoer# followed with a time of 11:29.00. DeBoer also picked up her own first place finish in the 200 yard back with a time of 2:22.23.
The Mavs will have break before returning to action for the Midwestern Collegiate Championships on February 18-20 at HPER Pool on the UNO campus.
